GRIT & GRACE

Grit & Grace is a band from Tasmania made up of Keelan, Talia, Jacob and Jaicam.

It started pretty casually. Talia joked about starting a band and Keelan just said “let’s do it” and that was it. From there it slowly grew into something more. The name Grit & Grace came out of a lot of brainstorming, but it stuck because it reflects the ups and downs of life, the harder moments and the grace that carries you through them.

Things really opened up when Jacob and Jaicam joined. That first session felt fuller straight away, with more energy, more sound, and just more fun having a complete group. What started as a few acoustic songs has grown into a mix of stripped back and full band sets. We move between acoustics and rock depending on the setting, shaping things to fit the space and the people we’re playing to.

Talia is on lead vocals, Keelan on guitar, with Keelan and Jacob sharing backing vocals. Jacob switches between bass and guitar, and Jaicam plays drums or cajon for the more laid back sets.

Live, it’s all pretty natural. Our sets are groovy, a bit funky at times, and focused on creating a space where people can enjoy themselves and feel part of it.

A lot of what we write comes from our faith and the things we’ve walked through. There’s a mix of light and heavy in that, but at the core of it is the idea that even in the darker parts of life, there’s still hope. More than anything, we want people to leave feeling warm, like they’ve had a good time, and knowing they’re loved.

Right now we’re focused on playing more gigs and building our set, while working on songs behind the scenes. Releasing music is definitely something we’re aiming for as things keep growing.
